Q. How does your service work?

RenovationFind offers a free online directory of rigorously screened and certified home improvement companies, trades, and contractors. Homeowners can go to RenovationFind.com and browse through categories in the industry to find reliable companies for their home projects. We also have companies on the directory that provide commercial services.

Each company in RenovationFind’s directory has cleared comprehensive background checks for healthy financial and legal history, proof of business licensing, liability insurance, and workers' compensation coverage. We work with a third party to monitor the companies to ensure they continue to meet our high standards.

On top of that, we offer digital marketing services to RenovationFind Certified companies. For example, we can help boost web traffic and online visibility and build a brand of trust for these companies. Email campaigns, social media, content marketing, search engine targeting and online advertising are some of the tools we use.

Q. What can we look forward to from you at the Ottawa Home and Garden Show?

We love chatting with homeowners and learning about their upcoming projects! We will help visitors find experienced and trustworthy contractors for their renovations at our booth. You can come “Post a Project” through a simple online form, and we’ll send it to three relevant certified companies for quotes. For example, if you’re interested in developing your basement and need estimates, we will send your information to the best basement renovation companies in Ottawa. Then, those contractors will contact you to get more information and provide an estimate.

Q. What advice can you offer homeowners?

Take the time to do some research before hiring a contractor to work in your home. It might feel time-consuming, but it is so worth it! Check out their website to see what they offer, and scan online reviews for red flags. Then, ask the contractor to see essential credentials like a business license, insurance and WCB coverage for their workers. These credentials will protect you and your property if there is any accident causing injury or damage during your project. If you find a RenovationFind Certified contractor, you can be sure we’ve done those checks for you.

Finally, check their references! You want to talk to prior customers to get a feel for the company. Ask to speak to their last three jobs so they can’t pick and choose their best jobs for references.

Q. What inspires your services?

I’ve worked in the renovation industry for a long time. Over the years, we’ve heard many terrible stories about bad contractors ripping off homeowners. I’ve heard stories of homeowners being left with unfinished work, horrible work or a massive financial burden. This is stressful for homeowners and gives the renovation industry a bad reputation. We wanted to change that.

RenovationFind provides a free resource for homeowners to find honest, reputable and dependable contractors. It helps homeowners, but it can also help those good, worthy companies get more work and improve the industry’s reputation. We love sharing more positive stories about successful renovations and happy homeowners.

Q. What is your favourite part of the Ottawa Home and Garden Show?

We love talking to homeowners! As you can tell, we’re passionate about the home improvement and renovation industry and love hearing about people’s plans and projects for their homes. Then, we get to connect them with experienced and trustworthy RenovationFind Certified companies to do the work. We are helping homeowners and helping those qualified companies.

Q. Are there any success stories you’d like to share?

Our business is data-driven, and we collect that data through surveys, market research, and other means. From that, we’ve gotten feedback from homeowners about their experience working with contractors from our website. The feedback is so positive! Homeowners have found painting companies, foundation repair contractors, home builders, the best plumbing companies in Ottawa, and more!
